How the Archive Is Built
Editorial, Data & Disclosure Policy
Fire & Flavor is designed to help people discover spicy products and use them confidently. This page explains what is verified, what is estimated, and how corrections are handled.

Products, Not Only Sauces
Catalog scope
The archive includes hot sauces, chili oils, chili crisps, seasonings, mustards, hot honey, syrups, and other spicy products connected to makers covered or researched by Fire & Flavor. Visible product-type labels should describe each item accurately.
Official Maker Sources First
Availability and product status
Available, sold-out, seasonal, retiring, discontinued, and not-currently-listed statuses are based primarily on official maker websites and direct maker information. A missing product page does not automatically prove that a product is permanently discontinued, so uncertain records remain archived with a qualified status.
Each product page displays the most recent stored availability check date and links to the official maker source when available.
Label Information Changes
Ingredients and major allergens
Ingredient and allergen notes are based on the official ingredient information stored in the archive. When a complete official list is unavailable, the page says that the information may be incomplete.
Confirmed or Ingredient-Based
Vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free information
A dietary badge may be marked as maker-confirmed or ingredient-based. Ingredient-based means no conflicting ingredient was identified in the stored list. It does not mean the product is certified, tested for cross-contact, or guaranteed safe for a medical diet.
A Discovery Aid
Heat ratings
The five-level Fire & Flavor scale may use firsthand tasting, the first recognized pepper in official ingredient order, official maker information, or a clearly marked catalog estimate. Raw pepper Scoville ranges do not predict the exact heat of a finished product.
Reviews and Promotions
Editorial independence, samples, and discount codes
Receiving a sample, maker interview, or discount code does not guarantee a positive review or a particular rating. Discount codes are presented as a convenience and should be clearly labeled. If Fire & Flavor begins earning a commission from a purchase link, that relationship should be disclosed near the link and on this page.
Help Keep It Accurate
Corrections and maker updates
Makers and visitors can report an incorrect product type, ingredient list, availability status, dietary claim, allergen note, official link, or other catalog detail. Corrections are reviewed against an official source or direct maker information before the archive is updated.
